How To Make An OnlyFans Account: A Step By Step Guide
Here is how to make an OnlyFans account as a creator: sign up, get verified, add your payout details and set up the page. The steps in order, plus what we tell our own creators to do first.
The Short Answer
How To Make An OnlyFans Account As A Creator
Two Stages: Sign Up, Then Get Approved
Here's how to make an OnlyFans account that can earn. There are two stages. First you sign up with an email and a password, the same as a fan. Then you apply to become a creator by submitting your ID, a selfie and your payout details. Nothing can be earned until that second stage is approved, which in our experience takes about 24 hours.
You Need To Be 18 And Have A Few Things Ready
You have to be at least 18. Before you start, have a government ID, a phone for the selfies and a bank account in your own name. Wikipedia's summary of the process lists more than nine pieces of information that creators provide, so it helps to have everything to hand.
Before You Sign Up
Set Up The Basics First
Use A Separate Email Just For OnlyFans
We tell new creators to use an email address made just for OnlyFans, so the account stays apart from their personal inbox and from anything they use for social media.
Pick A Stage Or Persona Name
Choose a stage or persona name, not your real name. Your legal name is only needed for verification, and the page itself can run under the persona.
Match The Username To Your Socials
Pick a username that matches your other socials. Fans who find you on Instagram or TikTok can then find the page without guessing.
Use A Strong Unique Password
Use a long password that you don't use anywhere else. Australia's cyber security agency recommends a unique password for every account, at least 15 characters long, with a password manager to keep track of them.
The Steps
How To Create An OnlyFans Account: The Steps In Order
Step One: Sign Up
Go to OnlyFans and sign up with your email and a password. Some guides also mention signing up through Google or X. Then confirm your email using the message OnlyFans sends you.
Step Two: Choose Become A Creator
From your profile settings, choose the option to become a creator. You'll pick your country of residence and fill in your details exactly as they appear on your ID.
Step Three: Submit Your ID And Selfies
Submit a valid government ID and the selfies OnlyFans asks for. A passport, driver's licence or national ID card are the usual options. When this step goes slowly, it's nearly always a weak photo or a name that doesn't match.
Step Four: Add Payout And Tax Details
Add the bank account you want to be paid into, plus your tax details. The name on the account has to match the name on your ID. OnlyFans takes 20 percent of what fans pay, so creators receive 80 percent.
Step Five: Wait For Approval
Then you wait. In our experience approval comes within about a day, and guides quote up to 72 hours. If you're still waiting after that, the likely causes are a weak selfie, a blurry ID photo or a name mismatch.
Step Six: Build The Page
Once you're approved, add a profile photo, a cover image and a short bio, then set your subscription price. We generally set it at around $30 to $60, with 80 to 90 percent off for first time subscribers, which brings in fans who already have a card attached. After that, the hard part is getting the first subscribers.

Privacy And Security

We Handle Country And Person Blocking
For our creators we handle country and region blocking, and blocking specific people, when the page is set up. It's one of the most useful privacy tools for keeping the page away from people you know.
Tax
Declare The Income
OnlyFans Income Is Generally Taxable
In Australia, the ATO lists subscriptions and tips among the income content creators must declare, and says a side hustle that isn't a business can still be assessable. If it does count as a business you'll need an ABN, and GST registration applies at $75,000 in a 12 month period. Rules differ by country, so speak to a registered tax professional.

The 80 percent creator share and the list of information creators provide come from Wikipedia's article on OnlyFans. The password advice comes from the Australian Cyber Security Centre's personal cyber security handbook, which blocked us from opening the page directly, so check it yourself. The tax points come from the ATO's guide for content creators, last updated 7 October 2026. The step order, accepted IDs and timing come from creator tool guides and are estimates, because we couldn't open an official OnlyFans page. Our advice on setup, pricing and privacy comes from our own experience.
